Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking a caring and motivated Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our pediatric dental team. In this vital role, you will assist with chairside procedures, monitor nitrous oxide, perform coronal polishing and place sealants. Your expertise will help streamline clinical operations, enhance patient experiences, and support the delivery of comprehensive pediatric dental services. Responsibilities
Assist dentists with a wide range of pediatric dental procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.

Take and develop high-quality X-ray images while adhering to HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols.

Prepare treatment rooms with proper aseptic techniques and ensure all dental instruments are sterilized and ready for use.

Manage medical documentation, including medical records, medical coding, and accurate documentation of vital signs and medical history.

Operate electronic health record (EHR) systems to update patient information efficiently.

Perform dental assisting duties such as taking impressions with a 3D scanner, assisting with medical imaging, and providing chairside support during procedures.

Support the dental reception team by managing patient flow, scheduling appointments, and ensuring smooth clinic operations.

Requirements
Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with proficiency in chairside assisting and certifications in coronal polishing, sealant placement, nitrous oxide monitoring and sedation monitoring.

Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.

Familiarity with EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic; experience with medical documentation and coding is a plus.

Ability to accurately take X-rays and operate dental imaging equipment including 3D scanners.

Strong understanding of pediatric dentistry principles and experience working with pediatric patients is preferred.

Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages and collaborate with team members.

Certification in radiography or X-ray technology; additional certifications in endodontics or prosthodontics are advantageous. Join our team to make a positive impact in patients’ lives through compassionate dental care!
