Job Summary
We are seeking a kind and detail-oriented Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our dental family! Duties
Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including restorations, prosthodontics, endodontics, and oral surgery, with precision and professionalism.
Perform chairside assisting using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
Take dental radiographs (X-rays), including digital imaging and 3D scans, following infection prevention protocols and ensuring patient safety.
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and maintaining strict infection control standards aligned with clinical confidentiality policies.
Monitor vital signs and medical history documentation to support safe treatment planning for each patient.
Process dental instruments and equipment according to sterilization procedures; operate dental equipment such as intraoral cameras, 3D scanners, and dental handpieces efficiently.
Support patient management by scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and providing excellent patient care throughout their visit.
Assist with medical imaging procedures while maintaining aseptic technique to prevent cross-contamination.
Uphold all infection prevention management policies to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff at all times.
*EFDA restorative is mandatory. Prosthetics is a plus but not mandatory.
Experience
Prior experience working in a general dentistry or pediatric dentistry setting is highly preferred; familiarity with dental clinic workflows is essential.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, dental instruments, and equipment used.
Hands-on experience with X-ray procedures including digital radiography and 3D scanning technology.
Demonstrated ability to perform dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, and infection control practices adhering to healthcare standards.
Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members as a part of four-handed dentistry; ability to explain procedures clearly to patients of all ages.
Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control standards along with medical documentation practices is essential for maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
