Duties
Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring all instruments and materials are prepared and sterilized according to infection control protocols.
Operate dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and medical imaging tools while maintaining proper safety standards.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring high-quality images for accurate diagnosis.
Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Provide chairside assistance using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
Monitor vital signs and medical documentation during appointments to support overall patient health assessments.
Support administrative tasks such as greeting patients as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, and managing medical records with Epic or similar systems.
Uphold strict infection control standards through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures to maintain a safe clinical environment.
Demonstrate thorough knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical coding to facilitate seamless communication within the team.
Assist with pediatrics by creating a friendly atmosphere tailored to young patients’ needs.
Skills
Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with proficiency in dental assisting procedures.
Strong knowledge of EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for efficient record management.
Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security.
Skilled in taking X-rays, operating medical imaging devices, and utilizing 3D scanners for comprehensive diagnostics.
Expertise in chairside assisting across various specialties including prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry.
Ability to communicate complex medical and dental terminology clearly to patients and team members.
Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and anatomy relevant to dental procedures.
Capable of handling medical documentation accurately while supporting the dental receptionist role when needed.
