Experienced Dental Assistant — Part-Time to Full-Time Opportunity
Broadview Dental — Falls Church, VA
Part-time initially, with opportunity for full-time as the practice grows
Pay: Starting $23 per hour, based on experience
Job Overview
Broadview Dental is a new, locally owned dental practice opening in Falls Church, VA. We are seeking a dynamic, experienced Dental Assistant to join our team in a part-time to full-time capacity.
This role is an exciting opportunity for a motivated dental assistant who is confident in four-handed dentistry, takes pride in excellent patient care, and enjoys helping build a new practice from the ground up.
As a key member of our startup team, you will support the dentist during clinical procedures, help maintain patient comfort, manage room setup and turnover, maintain sterilization and infection control standards, and help keep the office organized and running smoothly.
Because we are a new practice, the schedule may be slower in the beginning. During those times, the ideal candidate will be comfortable helping with startup-related tasks such as organizing supplies, maintaining the sterilization room, labeling inventory, creating efficient clinical systems, cleaning clinical areas, and supporting general office flow.
This position will begin as part-time, with the opportunity to grow into a full-time position as the practice grows.
Duties
Assist the dentist chairside during a variety of general dentistry procedures, including exams, fillings, crowns, bridges, extractions, emergency visits, impressions, scans, and other restorative procedures.
Provide efficient four-handed dentistry and anticipate the doctor’s needs during treatment.
Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and supplies before each appointment.
Clean, disinfect, and turn over operatories between patients while maintaining strict infection control and aseptic technique.
Maintain the sterilization area, including cleaning, packaging, sterilizing, and organizing instruments.
Take dental radiographs using digital X-ray technology
Assist with intraoral scanning, impressions, bite registrations, temporary crowns, and other clinical procedures as needed.
Seat patients, review medical history, and help patients feel comfortable before treatment.
Provide post-operative instructions and patient education as directed by the dentist.
Accurately assist with clinical charting and treatment documentation in dental software.
Restock operatories and monitor clinical supplies, materials, and inventory.
Help organize cabinets, drawers, instruments, supplies, and clinical storage areas.
Support OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and office safety protocols.
Help maintain a clean, calm, and welcoming office environment for patients and team members.
Assist with opening and closing clinical routines.
Support basic front office tasks when needed, such as greeting patients, answering phones, scanning documents, confirming appointments, or helping with patient flow.
During slower startup periods, help with office organization, sterilization room upkeep, supply labeling, inventory tracking, clinical checklists, and other tasks that help the office run smoothly.
Skills
Minimum 1 year of hands-on dental assisting experience required.
Strong chairside assisting skills and confidence with four-handed dentistry.
Experience assisting with general dentistry procedures, including fillings, crowns, exams, emergencies, and restorative treatment.
Knowledge of dental instruments, materials, operatory setup, and room turnover.
Strong understanding of infection control, sterilization procedures, and aseptic technique in a dental setting.
Ability to take digital dental X-rays preferred; Virginia dental radiology certification preferred.
Experience with Open Dental
Familiarity with digital X-rays, intraoral cameras, and intraoral scanners preferred.
Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality.
Ability to communicate kindly and professionally with patients.
Organized, dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented.
Comfortable working in a startup environment where systems are still being built.
Willing to help with sterilization, cleaning, organization, inventory, and general office flow during slower periods.
Able to take initiative and notice what needs to be done without constant direction.
Comfortable working as part of a small team.
