Job Description
Sierra Dental is seeking an experienced Dental Assistant or Registered Dental Assistant who takes pride in exceptional patient care, organization, and clinical excellence.
We are a privately owned practice where patients are heard—not rushed—and where initiative, reliability, and continuous learning are genuinely appreciated.
This is first and foremost a clinical assisting position in a privately owned, technology-focused dental practice. You will work directly with one doctor in a smaller office where patients are heard, not rushed, and where initiative, reliability, and sound clinical judgment are valued.
Our Monday-through-Thursday alternative workweek schedule provides approximately 32 hours per week and a predictable three-day weekend.
Why this opportunity is different
Consistent Monday-through-Thursday schedule
Predictable three-day weekend
Privately owned practice
Written training modules and competency sign-offs
Work with CEREC, PrimeScan, SureSmile, implant restorations, and advanced digital dentistry.
Potential growth into clinical leadership
Direct feedback and a clear path for professional development
We use written checklists, demonstration, supervised practice, and competency assessments so expectations are clear and employees have a defined path for growth.
Primary responsibilities
Chairside assisting for restorative, crown, and other general dental procedures
Preparing treatment rooms, instruments, materials, and equipment
Maintaining strong infection-control and sterilization standards
Taking digital radiographs within the employee’s legal scope
Intraoral scanning and clinical photography
CEREC and same-day restorative workflows
Implant restorative procedures
SureSmile records and aligner appointments
Sleep-appliance workflows
Room turnover and daily clinical readiness
Maintaining an organized clinical environment and preparing procedures in advance
Supporting and, with experience, helping train developing assistants
Depending on the employee’s experience and interest, limited administrative responsibilities such as insurance verification, scheduling support, treatment-plan follow-up, or patient communication may be added over time. This remains primarily a clinical position.
The person we are looking for
A strong candidate:
Protects patient safety and follows infection-control standards
Notices details and communicates concerns promptly
Takes ownership and follows through
Learns from feedback and applies it
Anticipates clinical needs
Communicates warmly and professionally with patients
Values organization, accountability, and teamwork
We do not expect perfection. We do expect honesty, initiative, curiosity, and a genuine desire to improve.
Qualifications
Previous dental assisting experience
California RDA preferred
Current qualifications required for any regulated duties performed
Strong knowledge of infection control and cross-contamination prevention
Comfort with dental technology and learning new systems
Dependable attendance and punctuality
Availability to work Monday through Thursday
Experience with expanded functions, CEREC, intraoral scanning, implants, orthodontic aligners, clinical leadership, insurance verification, or treatment coordination is helpful but not required.
Compensation and development
$28–$34 per hour based on demonstrated experience, credentials, and capabilities
Paid working interview
90-day introductory and performance-review period
Written training and competency-development pathway
Paid continuing education when approved
Opportunity for increased responsibility and compensation based on demonstrated contribution and Practice financial performance
Benefits provided according to eligibility and Practice policy
Application process
Please submit your resume and answer the following questions:
1. Are you currently licensed or otherwise legally qualified to take dental radiographs in California?
2. Briefly describe a time you noticed and corrected a clinical, infection-control, or workflow problem without waiting to be asked.
