Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Experienced Orthodontic Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. Responsibilities
Assist orthodontists with various procedures, including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings, using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency.
Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and sterilized equipment following aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), ensuring proper technique and patient comfort while adhering to HIPAA regulations for medical privacy.
Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, including documenting treatment details and updating medical documentation.
Educate patients on orthodontic care, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices tailored for pediatric dentistry and general dentistry patients.
Monitor vital signs when necessary and assist with medical imaging procedures related to dental health assessments.
Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow efficiently.
Maintain a clean, organized clinic environment by following infection control guidelines and ensuring all dental tools are sterilized properly.
Assist with other dental procedures such as prosthodontics or endodontics as needed, demonstrating versatility in dental assisting skills.
Keep up-to-date with advancements in dental technology including 3D scanners and medical coding practices relevant to dental records management.
Experience
Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic setting, preferably with specialization in orthodontics or pediatric dentistry.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection control protocols essential for maintaining a safe clinical environment.
Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for efficient documentation and record keeping.
Experience with X-ray procedures, medical imaging techniques, and vital signs monitoring required.
Ability to perform chairside assisting confidently while demonstrating excellent communication skills with patients of all ages.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information at all times.
Prior exposure to medical documentation, medical coding, Epic or similar healthcare software is a plus but not mandatory.
