Front Desk Coordinator — Pediatric Dental Office — James Island/Charleston, SC — 4-Day Week

Oak Point Pediatric Dentistry is a small, out-of-network pediatric dental practice on James Island. There are six of us. We know our patients and their parents by name, our schedule is full because families keep coming back, and we are looking for one more person who takes real ownership of the front desk.

This is not a big-box office. You will not be one of nine people at a counter. You will be the first voice a family hears and the last face they see, and you will have a direct hand in how this practice runs.

THE SCHEDULE
Monday–Wednesday: 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Thursday: 7:00 AM – 2:10 PM
Fridays off. No nights. No weekends.

Full-time hours in four days. Yes, the mornings are early — our families are on school schedules.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Greet and check in families, and make the first ninety seconds of every visit feel easy
Answer the phone, schedule and confirm appointments, and manage a very full calendar
Check patients out, collect payment at time of service, and take deposits on scheduled treatment
Explain fees and payment options clearly and kindly — we are out of network, so families pay us for what is not covered by insurance
Submit and follow up on insurance claims as a courtesy to our families, and keep outstanding balances from aging
Follow up on treatment that was recommended but not yet scheduled
Keep our written processes current, and follow them
WHO DOES WELL HERE
You genuinely like people — including a four-year-old having a hard morning and the parent who is worried about the cost
You close the loop. When something does not work the first time, you try a second and third way instead of letting it drop
You are precise. Names, dates, and dollar amounts are correct because you double-check them
You take initiative. When you do not know how to do something, you find out, then confirm you got it right
You are comfortable talking about money without apologizing for it
You want to be part of a small team where what you do visibly matters
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Required:
At least one year in a front desk, scheduling, or customer-facing service role
Strong written and verbal communication
Comfort with practice management software (we use Oryx) or a track record of picking up new systems quickly
Reliable transportation and consistent on-time arrival for a 7:00 AM start
Availability for the full schedule above
Strongly preferred:
Dental front office experience
Familiarity with dental insurance, claims, and verification
Experience with treatment scheduling and financial arrangements
Spanish Speaking/bilingual preferred but not a requirement
Not required: We will teach you dental insurance and our software. We are not going to teach you how to care about people.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$22–$24 per hour, based on experience. Paid holidays, PTO, retirement match, partially funded health insurance, closed Fridays.
