Job Summary
Join our dynamic dental team as a Front Desk/Dental Assistant, where you'll be the friendly face welcoming patients and the efficient coordinator ensuring smooth clinic operations. This role combines front desk responsibilities with clinical support, providing an engaging environment that promotes excellent patient care. You'll handle appointment scheduling, patient check-ins, and medical documentation while assisting with chairside procedures and maintaining infection control standards. Your energetic approach will help create a positive experience for every patient, whether they’re visiting for general dentistry or specialized pediatric care.
Duties
Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and manage patient check-in/check-out processes using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems.
Schedule appointments efficiently, coordinate with dental providers, and confirm upcoming visits to optimize clinic flow.
Collect and update patient medical records, ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality at all times.
Assist dental practitioners during procedures with chairside assisting, including taking vital signs, medical imaging (X-ray), and preparing dental materials.
Operate dental equipment such as 3D scanners and digital X-ray machines while maintaining aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
Manage administrative tasks like answering phones as a dental receptionist, handling billing inquiries, and processing medical coding for insurance claims.
Support clinical staff with four-handed dentistry practices, ensuring smooth operation during complex procedures in general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, or pediatric dentistry cases.
Maintain cleanliness of the dental operatory area following infection control standards and ensure all tools are sterilized properly.
Document medical and dental procedures accurately in medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
Assist with patient education on treatment plans, oral hygiene practices, and post-treatment care instructions.
Experience
Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is required; familiarity with dental assisting tasks such as taking X-rays, vital signs measurement, and chairside support is highly preferred.
Proficiency in EMR systems like Dentrix Ascend is essential for managing electronic health records efficiently.
Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques is necessary to ensure safe clinical operations.
Experience with pediatric dentistry or working with pediatric patients is a plus; familiarity with pediatric-specific equipment like 3D scanners is advantageous.
Understanding of HIPAA regulations related to medical documentation and records management is mandatory.
