Job Summary
The Front Desk Receptionist at Park Slope Kids Dental Care serves as the operational hub of the practice and is the first point of contact for patients and families. This role is responsible for managing patient interactions, scheduling, insurance verification, financial transactions, electronic records, and day-to-day administrative functions that support efficient office operations. The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, technologically proficient, and capable of exercising strong judgment, critical thinking, and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment Summary
This position operates in a busy pediatric dental office requiring exceptional customer service, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously. The role involves frequent interaction with children, parents, providers, and staff while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
The practice operates in a fully paperless environment. Employees must be comfortable utilizing multiple software platforms simultaneously, managing electronic patient records, processing patient accounts, communicating through Dentrix and other digital systems, and adapting to evolving technology. Success in this role requires strong executive functioning skills, including organization, prioritization, time management, problem-solving, and the ability to work independently while supporting overall office operations.
Primary Responsibilities
Greet and check patients in and out efficiently
Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments
Answer phone calls and respond to emails in a timely manner
Verify insurance coverage (PPO and Medicaid) and handle billing processesCollect co-payments and maintain accurate financial records
Manage and update patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulation
Provide exceptional customer service to children and their families
Utilize Dentrix software for scheduling, billing, and patient data management
Collaborate with the dental team to ensure smooth daily office operations
Maintain accurate documentation and assist with administrative office functions as assigned
Qualifications
Associate's Degree required or Minimum of two (2) years of college educationAt least two (2) years of administrative, healthcare, dental, or medical office experience
Strong executive functioning skills, including organization, prioritization, time management, and attention to detail
Ability to read, comprehend, and accurately interpret written communications, treatment plans, insurance information, and financial policies
Basic math proficiency, including calculating balances, collecting payments, processing financial arrangements, and reconciling accounts
Strong computer literacy and comfort working in a paperless office environment
Proficiency with computers and electronic devices, including Dentrix or similar practice management software
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Professional customer service skills and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
Professional, dependable, and team-oriented demeanor
Knowledge of dental terminology preferred
Bilingual in Spanish preferred
