Front Desk Receptionist / Dental Billing Specialist
We are seeking an energetic, detail‑oriented Front Desk Receptionist / Dental Billing Specialist to join our dental practice. This hybrid role blends patient‑facing front desk responsibilities with essential dental billing and coding functions. The ideal candidate is organized, personable, and committed to delivering exceptional patient experiences while ensuring accuracy in all financial and clinical documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Check‑In — Greet patients warmly, confirm appointments, update demographics, and create a welcoming environment
Phone Management — Answer calls promptly, provide information, schedule visits, and route inquiries to clinical staff
Appointment Scheduling — Coordinate hygiene and restorative appointments, manage provider schedules, and optimize chair time
Insurance Verification — Collect insurance details, verify eligibility and benefits, and document coverage for procedures such as cleanings, fillings, crowns, and periodontal treatment
Dental Claims Submission — Prepare and submit claims through dental practice management software (Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental, etc.)
Dental Coding — Apply accurate CDT codes for procedures including exams, radiographs, prophylaxis, restorative work, endodontics, oral surgery, and prosthodontics
Records Management — Maintain confidential patient files, update treatment notes, and ensure compliance with HIPAA
Collections & Billing Follow‑Up — Follow up on outstanding claims, patient balances, and insurance discrepancies
Clinical Coordination — Communicate with dentists and hygienists to ensure accurate documentation for billing and treatment planning
Knowledge Maintenance — Stay current on dental terminology, CDT coding updates, and insurance policies
Qualifications
Dental Office Experience — Prior experience in a dental practice is a must
CDT Coding Knowledge — Strong understanding of CDT codes and dental terminology
Practice Management Software — Experience with dental EMR/EHR systems (Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental, Curve)
Insurance & Billing Skills — Ability to code procedures accurately and manage insurance claims
Collections Experience — Skilled in resolving billing discrepancies and managing patient balances
Communication Excellence — Professional, friendly, and clear communication with patients and team members
Detail‑Oriented Multitasking — Ability to stay organized in a fast‑paced dental environment
