Job Description

The Mission Neighborhood Health Center (MNHC) is a non-profit, multi-site community health organization offering comprehensive health services in the Mission and Excelsior Districts of San Francisco. The center offers primary health care services, adult medicine, pediatrics, family planning, OB/GYN, HIV and homeless services. We advocate for health equity and deliver innovative, high-quality services responsive to the neighborhoods and diverse communities we serve.

We are currently looking for qualified candidates for our Front Desk Receptionist - Dental Clinic role. Please note: This role requires applicants to be bilingual in English and Spanish. This position reports to the Dental Director and is a Regular, Full Time, Non-Exempt role with a starting hourly range of $26.18 to $28.13 with full benefits.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:

The Front Desk Receptionist is responsible for the front desk operations in the Dental Clinic. This position requires excellent communication, computer and customer service skills, and the ability to act professionally and to deal with highly confidential matters.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES

Greets patients/visitors to the clinic, communicates any potential delays, and works to ensure patient satisfaction.

By phone: Schedules appointment, responds to general inquiries, and triages calls for the providers.

Explains procedures/services to patients and explains what is covered by insurance or other service plans.

Provides exemplary customer service; answer the telephone in a timely and polite manner; treats patients and coworkers with courtesy and discretion.

Interviews new patients to secure demographic information, registers individuals, and families as MNHC patients; logs patient information into the computer, and initiates the medical record.

Renews and updates established individual and family registration records as required by verifying that patient’s record is up to date and accurate.

Acts as a cashier: determines the amount of payment as per protocol, collects payments, and maintains appropriate collection documentation.

Checks insurance eligibility prior to every appointment using MNHC eligibility tool, makes necessary updates and contact patients to inform them of any issues.

Attends required staff and departmental meetings as assigned.

Understand and explain referral process to patients.

Willing to help back staff when needed.

Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or equivalent.

One year of front-desk experience in a dental office.

Bilingual in English and Spanish.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of dental terminology and previous experience in the dental field

Knowledge of computer data entry, information retrieval and Microsoft word.

Familiarity with Third Party Reimbursement programs.
