Responsibilities
Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing exceptional customer service while managing check-in and check-out procedures.
Schedule appointments accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Open Dental
Verify insurance coverage, obtain authorizations, and process claims efficiently to support timely reimbursement.
Review medical documentation for completeness and accuracy, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
Manage medical records, including filing, scanning, and updating electronic health records (EHR) systems like eClinicalWorks or other EMR platforms.
Handle phone communication professionally, directing calls appropriately and providing information about clinic services.
Assist with billing tasks such as coding using CPT, ICD-9/10 codes, and supporting medical billing processes to maximize revenue flow.
Maintain a clean, organized front desk area while supporting administrative tasks such as data entry, typing, filing, and 10-key typing.
Support clinical staff by preparing care plans documentation review and coordinating patient follow-up appointments.
Ensure adherence to health information management standards and office procedures to promote operational efficiency.
Experience
Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment with familiarity in clinic operations.
Strong knowledge of health insurance processes including Medicare, Medicaid, commercial plans, and health information management policies.
Experience working with EMR/EHR systems such as Open Dental is highly preferred.
Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations.
Demonstrated proficiency in medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), billing procedures, and documentation review.
Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for administrative support tasks.
Exceptional customer service skills with phone etiquette experience for handling patient inquiries professionally.
Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Knowledge of clinical confidentiality policies and HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy at all times.
