Overview:

We're hiring a professional, friendly, and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to support our New Port Richey/Trinity office at Academic Alliance in Dermatology.

Schedule: Monday - Friday | 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM; may shift to 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM based on clinic needs.

The Front Desk Medical Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients and plays a key role in patient check-in and check-out, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, payment collection, and maintaining accurate electronic medical records (EMR). Candidates with experience in a medical office, healthcare front desk, or dermatology practice are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities:

We are seeking a friendly, professional, and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our fast-paced dermatology practice. This front desk / medical front office role is responsible for patient check-in and check-out, scheduling appointments, answering phones, verifying insurance, and collecting payments. The ideal candidate has strong customer service skills, enjoys working with patients, and can multitask in a busy medical office environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

Greet and check in patients in a professional and welcoming manner

Manage patient scheduling, appointment confirmations, and referrals

Answer and screen calls using a multi-line phone system

Enter and update patient demographics and insurance information in the electronic medical record (EMR) system

Verify insurance eligibility and review patient charts for accuracy

Collect copays, balances, and patient payments

Check out patients and schedule follow-up appointments

Maintain smooth front office operations and patient flow

Scan, upload, and distribute medical records, faxes, and correspondence

Respond promptly to patient messages and internal communication

Assist with basic billing and insurance-related questions

Help maintain office and product inventory; place supply orders as needed

Perform end-of-day duties including reports and payment reconciliation (when assigned)

Support clinical and administrative staff as needed

Perform other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED required

1-3 years of recent experience as a Medical Receptionist, Medical Front Desk, or Healthcare Receptionist preferred

Experience working in a medical office, clinic, surgical practice, or dermatology office preferred

Prior dermatology experience strongly preferred

Skills/Abilities:

Excellent customer service and patient communication skills

Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy practices

Ability to multitask and manage a high-volume front desk environment

Strong organizational and time management skills

Comfortable working in a fast-paced medical office setting

Detail-oriented with strong accuracy in data entry

Experience using a multi-line phone system

Proficient with standard office equipment (computer, scanner, copier, fax)

EMR/EHR experience required (such as EMA, ModMed, Epic, or similar systems)

Fluent in English (bilingual skills a plus, if applicable)

Ability to alphabetize and maintain organized medical records and files

Willingness to travel to nearby office locations for coverage when needed

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting with occasional standing, bending, and reaching

Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and office equipment

Vision and hearing sufficient for computer work and telephone communication

Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds

Licensure/Certifications/Education:
