Job Description
Dental Front Desk / Assistant – Maternity Coverage + Long-Term Opportunity
[PREVIOUS DENTAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED]
Curve Dental experience strongly preferred
Harbour Dental Studio | Old City, Philadelphia, PA
Harbour Dental Studio is a modern, growing dental practice in Old City, Philadelphia. We’re looking for a reliable, calm, and capable dental professional to join our team beginning this fall.
This position will initially provide front desk coverage during our current team member’s maternity leave, expected to begin in early to mid-October. During that time, the role will primarily focus on front desk responsibilities including scheduling, insurance verification, treatment coordination, patient communication, and collections.
Once our team member returns from maternity leave, we would ideally like this person to stay with the practice in an ongoing hybrid/floater role, helping both at the front desk and with dental assisting as needed.
Because the maternity coverage period will require someone to step into an established workflow relatively quickly, previous dental experience is required. Experience with Curve Dental is highly preferred, although we are willing to consider a strong candidate with experience using another dental practice management system.
What You’ll Be Responsible ForDuring Maternity Coverage
Scheduling patients and thoughtfully managing the daily schedule
Coordinating treatment plans and clearly explaining fees and next steps
Verifying insurance benefits and communicating coverage to patients
Collecting patient portions confidently and professionally
Managing phone calls, texts, and new patient intake
Following up on treatment and outstanding patient needs
Helping reduce no-shows through confirmations and proactive communication
Maintaining accurate patient information and documentation in the practice management system
Creating a welcoming, calm experience for every patient
Long-Term Role
After maternity coverage ends, the position will transition into a hybrid front desk/dental assistant role based on the needs of the practice.
Responsibilities may include:
Providing additional front desk coverage during busy periods, days off, or vacations
Helping with scheduling, insurance, phones, and patient coordination
Chairside assisting when needed
Turning over and preparing operatories
Sterilization and maintaining clinical flow
Helping the doctor and team wherever additional support is needed
We’re looking for someone who enjoys being versatile and is comfortable moving between the administrative and clinical sides of a dental practice.
Who This Role Is For
Someone who:
Has previous experience working in a dental practice
Is organized, dependable, and detail-oriented
Is comfortable communicating with patients both in person and over the phone
Can discuss treatment costs and patient balances professionally
Learns systems quickly and follows through without needing constant oversight
Is calm under pressure and solutions-oriented
Enjoys working in a smaller, growing practice where teamwork matters
Is comfortable helping both clinically and administratively
Wants the opportunity to stay with the practice beyond the temporary maternity coverage period
Curve Dental experience is a major plus and will be given preference. Experience with dental scheduling, insurance verification, treatment coordination, and/or dental assisting is also strongly preferred.
Schedule & Compensation
Position beginning before early/mid-October to allow time for training and transition
Increased front desk hours during maternity leave
Opportunity to remain with the practice afterward in an ongoing front desk/dental assistant floater role
Competitive hourly pay based on experience
Opportunity for additional hours and responsibilities as the practice grows
Why Harbour Dental Studio
Modern, thoughtfully designed independent practice
Small, collaborative team
Respectful and transparent work environment
No corporate dentistry chaos
Clear roles and expectations
Opportunity to work directly with the practice owner
Opportunity to become a long-term member of a growing practice rather than simply filling a temporary position
How to Apply
Please apply with your résumé and a brief note describing:
Your previous dental experience
Any experience you have with Curve Dental
Your front desk and/or dental assisting experience
Your availability beginning this fall
Whether you would be interested in staying with the practice in a hybrid front desk/assistant role after the maternity coverage period ends
We’re looking for someone who can step in confidently during maternity leave and, ideally, become a long-term part of the Harbour Dental Studio team.
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
