Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Front Office Assistant/Dental Assistant to join our vibrant dental practice. In this role, you will be the welcoming face of our clinic, ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience from check-in to check-out. You will support clinical operations by assisting with chairside procedures, maintaining medical and dental records, and ensuring adherence to infection control protocols. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help foster a positive environment where patients feel cared for and confident in their dental care journey.
Responsibilities
Greet patients warmly, verify appointments, and manage patient check-in and check-out processes using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft.
Schedule appointments, confirm patient information, and handle appointment modifications efficiently.
Assist the dental team during procedures with chairside assistance, including preparing instruments, managing dental materials, and ensuring aseptic technique is maintained.
Take and develop X-ray images following HIPAA guidelines for patient privacy and safety; operate medical imaging equipment including 3D scanners when necessary.
Collect vital signs, medical history updates, and assist with medical documentation to support comprehensive patient care.
Manage dental and medical records accurately, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and proper medical coding practices.
Support infection control protocols by sterilizing instruments, maintaining a clean clinical environment, and adhering to OSHA standards.
Provide excellent customer service as a dental receptionist—answering phones, managing inquiries, and guiding patients through their visit process.
Assist with pediatric dentistry procedures when needed, demonstrating patience and understanding for young patients.
Collaborate with the team on four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency during treatments.
Maintain knowledge of dental terminology across specialties such as Prosthodontics, Endodontics, General Dentistry, and Pediatric Dentistry to facilitate effective communication.
Experience
Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred; familiarity with dental assisting duties including chairside assisting is essential.
Proficiency in EMR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft; experience with Epic or similar medical documentation platforms is advantageous.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security is required.
Hands-on experience with X-ray equipment, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging tools is desirable.
Strong understanding of dental terminology across various specialties such as Prosthodontics, Endodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, and general dentistry procedures.
Experience in infection control practices within a healthcare environment; familiarity with aseptic techniques is necessary.
