Job Description
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Dental Receptionist & Insurance Support Specialist to provide exceptional patient service while supporting key insurance and billing functions. This role combines front desk responsibilities, including scheduling, patient check-in/check-out, phone management, and record maintenance, with insurance verification, claim follow-up, and management of the outstanding claims report.
The ideal candidate will have prior dental insurance and billing experience and serve as backup support for our Insurance Coordinator when needed. Experience in a dental office is required. Experience with Eaglesoft Version 25 and VYNE Dental is strongly preferred.
Duties & Responsibilities
Greet patients warmly and professionally, creating a positive first impression.
Schedule appointments efficiently using Eaglesoft dental practice management software.
Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, intake paperwork, patient consents, and record updates.
Verify dental insurance eligibility, benefits, frequencies, limitations, and coverage details through VYNE and carrier portals.
Communicate insurance benefits and estimated patient financial responsibility accurately and professionally.
Maintain and manage the practice's outstanding claims report, including claim follow-up and status tracking.
Assist with insurance claim research, documentation requests, and carrier communications to support timely claim resolution.
Serve as backup support for the Insurance Coordinator during absences, assisting with insurance-related workflows and claim management as needed.
Review patient documentation for completeness and accuracy, ensuring compliance with HIPAA requirements and office protocols.
Maintain organized patient records, files, and documentation.
Answer and direct incoming calls using a multi-line phone system while providing exceptional customer service.
Assist with administrative functions including filing, data entry, appointment confirmations, and schedule management.
Coordinate with clinical staff regarding treatment plans, insurance requirements, pre-authorizations, and patient follow-up needs.
Qualifications
Previous dental front office experience is required.
Dental insurance and billing experience is required.
Demonstrated experience working with dental claims, insurance verification, claim follow-up, and reimbursement processes is required.
Working knowledge of CDT codes, dental terminology, and insurance billing procedures is required.
Experience with Eaglesoft or similar dental practice management software is strongly preferred.
Experience with VYNE Dental or insurance verification platforms is preferred.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills and the ability to discuss insurance and financial information professionally with patients.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards.
Strong customer service skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.

Ideal Candidate

They are comfortable discussing insurance benefits, following up on outstanding claims, troubleshooting insurance issues, and stepping into insurance coordinator responsibilities when needed, while continuing to provide exceptional front desk support and patient service.
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
