Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Full-Time Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to patient care, excellent communication skills, and a thorough understanding of dental hygiene practices. As a vital member of our practice, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive dental hygiene services, educating patients on oral health, and supporting the overall efficiency of our dental operations. This position offers an opportunity to work in a collaborative environment focused on delivering exceptional dental care and improving patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and root planing, to remove plaque and calculus from teeth.
Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs and reviewing medical histories to ensure safe and effective treatment.
Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to individual needs.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using digital imaging technology while adhering to infection prevention protocols.
Assist the dentist during procedures with chairside assisting, including handing instruments and managing dental equipment.
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records within Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. (We use Dentrix Ascend)
Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations, maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
Follow infection control procedures using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a sterile environment.
Manage inventory of dental supplies and equipment, ensuring proper functioning of all tools used in daily operations.
Support general dentistry procedures with expertise in pediatric dentistry when necessary, ensuring comfort for young patients.
Requirements
Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH).
Proven experience working as a dental hygienist within a clinical setting, preferably with pediatric dentistry exposure.
Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and electronic health records management.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to oral health.
Familiarity with dental equipment operation, X-ray techniques, and infection prevention management practices.
Ability to perform chairside assisting with competence in four-handed dentistry techniques.
Excellent communication skills for client interaction and patient education across diverse age groups including pediatrics.
Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control standards aligned with HIPAA compliance requirements.
Capable of managing medical records accurately while adhering to documentation review protocols and medical coding standards.
