Job Summary
We are seeking a professional and organized Dental Receptionist to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, managing appointments, patient records, and insurance verification with accuracy and efficiency. This role requires excellent communication skills, familiarity with dental and medical terminology, and proficiency in various electronic health record (EHR) systems. The Dental Receptionist will ensure smooth office operations while providing exceptional patient service and maintaining confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Responsibilities
Greet patients warmly and professionally, providing outstanding front desk customer service.
Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using dental practice management software .
Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including insurance verification for Medicare, Medicaid, and other plans.
Collect payments and process medical billing using CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and Meditech or Athenahealth systems.
Manage patient records accurately
Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, maintaining proper phone etiquette.
Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, including care plans and medical records management.
Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry (10 key typing), and managing office supplies.
Support clinic operations by coordinating patient intake procedures and medical scheduling.
Maintain a clean, organized front desk area while adhering to infection control protocols.
Experience
Previous experience in a dental office or medical administrative support role is highly preferred.
Familiarity with dental terminology, health information management systems is essential.
Proficiency in dental practice management software is required
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) are necessary for documentation review and office management tasks.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively in bilingual environments are desirable.
Knowledge of insurance verification processes, medical billing procedures, and healthcare regulations
Prior office management skills will be considered an advantage.
