Job Description
General Dentist – Maternity Leave Coverage (Full-Time, ~3 Months)
Ferrara Family Dental — Shelton, CT
We are seeking a licensed General Dentist to provide full-time coverage for approximately 3 months while our current dentist is on maternity leave. This is a great opportunity for a dentist looking for temporary, high-volume clinical work with an established, supportive team and an existing patient base — no need to build a practice from scratch.
About Us
We are a solo-practitioner, private dental practice dedicated to providing quality, comprehensive dental care to patients of all ages. We accept both PPO and fee-for-service patients. Our office features 5 fully equipped operatories (2 hygiene, 3 restorative), digital X-ray, and a digital iTero scanner, allowing us to offer a full range of services including restorative dentistry, esthetic dentistry, Invisalign, implant dentistry, endodontics, periodontal care, and extractions. Our team is friendly and welcoming — everyone works well together, and we take pride in a warm, collaborative environment for both staff and patients.
Position Details
Job Type: Full-time, temporary/locum
Duration: Approximately 3 months, with an estimated start date of November 2026
Schedule: Full-time, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday (closed Wednesdays and weekends)
Compensation: Competitive, negotiable based on experience
Location: Shelton, CT
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive general dentistry services including exams, diagnostics, restorative work, extractions, and preventive care
Review patient charts, treatment plans, and continue care in progress
Collaborate with hygienists, dental assistants, and front office staff to maintain smooth daily operations
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records
Deliver a consistent, high standard of patient care during the transition period
Qualifications
DDS or DMD from an accredited dental school
Active, unrestricted dental license in Connecticut
Current CPR/BLS certification
Malpractice insurance (or willingness to obtain)
Strong chairside manner and ability to quickly build rapport with an existing patient base
Prior experience with Dentrix a plus
Invisalign Certification a plus
Comfortable working independently and managing a full daily schedule
