Job Description
Ebenezer is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) to support our residents in our Ebenezer Skilled Nursing Facility (TCU) in Edina, MN! This role performs clerical and receptionist duties for the nursing units and assist in management of central supplies for nursing.
Aurora on France is a new, innovative senior community attached to Fairview Southdale Hospital in the heart of Edina, MN. Located conveniently near Hwy. 62 and France Ave. and is on a bus line. Aurora has 136 units offering a full continuum of care including Transitional Care, Enhanced Care and Assisted Living/Memory Care. This HUC position includes:
80 hours every two weeks
Day shift; 9AM - 5:30PM
Every third weekend rotation
Responsibilities
Performs clerical and receptionist duties.
Notifies physicians of routine visits due, makes outside appointments when needed. This includes coordinating appointments with resident representative.
Coordinates transportation for appointments.
Completes referrals for appointments.
Assure telephone is answered timely & professionally and directed to the appropriate person for follow up.
Orders labs and x-rays.
Regularly checks fax machines for incoming documents.
Assemble resident charts for admission, discharge, and hospital return.
Assembles resident information to be sent with to the hospital.
Keeps all forms accessible and current.
Filing and faxing as needed.
Uploads documents into PCC.
Assists with gathering and copying of documents with release of records requests.
ICD10 coding as directed
Maintain current chart according to chart order policy/procedure.
Thins resident charts per schedule.
Closes resident charts, discontinues medications/orders on discharge.
Maintaining resident long term/discharged files.
Maintaining closed out controlled substance books and monitor dates for disposal.
Transcribe MD/NP orders per facility policy.
Enter orders into electronic health records
Participates in audits or surveys designed to measure quality care and service.
Participates in audits or surveys as directed.
Assisting in the functions of Nursing Supply.
Utilizes Ebenezer’s preferred vendors and products when placing orders.
Maintains inventory levels of supplies for the nursing floor. Orders supplies from vendors.
When applicable provides resident information to vendors to ensure appropriate billing.
Monitors nursing supplies to assure regulations are met. (Expiration dates, labeling, storage, etc.)
Monitors the use of leased resident equipment and works with nursing to order and return equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate of Arts or Vocational/Technical Training
1 year of experience
Health Unit Coordinator Certification
Qualifications:
$20.83- $29.40 Hourly
