Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Hygienist to join our vibrant dental team. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional preventive dental care, educate patients on oral health practices, and support the overall patient experience. Your expertise will help ensure our patients receive top-quality care in a friendly, professional environment. Duties
Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning teeth and removing plaque and tartar buildup using ultrasonic scalers and hand instruments.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) ensuring proper technique and patient safety.
Assess patient vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to monitor overall health status.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health.
Assist with chairside procedures by preparing instruments, materials, and ensuring the comfort of patients during treatments.
Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) using systems like open dental or Dentrix, documenting treatment details thoroughly.
Follow infection prevention protocols, including sterilization of dental equipment and maintaining a sterile environment in accordance with HIPAA and healthcare infection control standards.
Skills
Proficiency with dental software systems such as open dental and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record management.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and general dentistry procedures.
Experience with pediatric dentistry practices and providing care to pediatric patients.
Skilled in four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort during procedures.
Ability to operate dental equipment safely and effectively while adhering to infection control protocols.
Excellent communication skills for client interaction, patient education, and team collaboration.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR management systems and electronic health records documentation standards.
Knowledge of HIPAA compliance requirements to maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
