Hygiene Assistant

Job Title: Dental Hygiene Assistant – Full-Time

Inova Dental is seeking a friendly, dependable, and highly organized Dental Hygiene Assistant to support our dental hygiene department. The successful candidate will help the hygienist maintain an efficient schedule while providing patients with a welcoming and comfortable experience.

Responsibilities:
Prepare hygiene treatment rooms before each appointment
Seat patients and update medical histories
Assist the dental hygienist during hygiene appointments
Record clinical findings and periodontal measurements as dictated by the hygienist
Take digital radiographs when prescribed, authorized, and legally qualified
Prepare the ultrasonic scaler, Airflow unit, polishing equipment, fluoride, and other required materials
Clean and disinfect treatment rooms between patients
Transport, sterilize, package, and store instruments according to IPAC standards
Maintain sterilization records and complete required monitoring documentation
Restock hygiene rooms and monitor supply levels
Upload radiographs, photographs, and scans to patient records
Provide approved post-treatment instructions under the hygienist’s direction
Help maintain patient flow and keep the hygiene schedule running on time
Assist with reception or other clinical duties when required
Qualifications:
Dental Assisting diploma or previous dental-clinic experience preferred
HARP certification required if taking dental radiographs
Knowledge of dental terminology and infection prevention and control
Familiarity with periodontal charting and dental software is an asset
Experience with ultrasonic scaling equipment, Airflow, digital radiography, and intraoral scanning is an asset
Strong organizational and communication skills
Professional, compassionate, punctual, and dependable
Able to work efficiently in a busy clinical environment
Schedule:
Full-time position
Daytime shifts
Saturday availability is required
