Job Description
We’re opening a new dermatology clinic in Owosso and looking for a Lead Medical Receptionist who wants to help build an organized, welcoming, and smoothly running office from the start.
This hands-on role combines patient-facing front desk duties with responsibility for daily office coordination. We’re looking for someone who takes ownership, anticipates needs, solves problems, and keeps operations moving while providing excellent service to our patients.
If you’re an experienced medical receptionist ready for more responsibility and room to grow, we’d love to meet you.
What You’ll Do
Answer calls, schedule appointments, and communicate professionally with patients.
Check patients in and out, update patient information, and maintain accurate records.
Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, collect applicable payments, and help resolve front desk insurance questions.
Help prepare the clinic for opening by organizing supplies, setting up workspaces, and establishing front desk routines.
Monitor inventory and coordinate ordering of office and medical supplies.
Create and maintain systems, checklists, and workflows that keep the office organized and efficient.
Coordinate daily administrative operations and work with providers and staff to address scheduling, patient flow, and operational needs.
Take initiative to identify problems, recommend improvements, and follow through on solutions.
Serve as a reliable point of contact for front desk operations and communicate priorities and concerns to clinic leadership.
Help train and support additional front desk staff as the practice grows.
Protect patient privacy and follow office policies and confidentiality requirements.
Who We’re Looking For
Prior medical front desk experience, including scheduling, patient registration, and insurance verification.
Experience as a lead receptionist, front desk coordinator, or in a role with additional administrative responsibility is strongly preferred.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
Initiative, sound judgment, and consistent follow-through.
A warm, professional communication style and a calm approach to patient concerns.
Comfort using electronic medical records, scheduling systems, and everyday office technology.
Enthusiasm for helping a new clinic establish effective routines and a positive patient experience.
Experienced with modern technology and software.
