Job Summary

Duties
Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, oral surgery, and pediatric dentistry treatments.
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment in accordance with dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management policies.
Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans while adhering to dental x-ray safety protocols and aseptic techniques.
Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Provide patient care by explaining procedures, taking vital signs, and ensuring patient comfort throughout their visit.
Process dental instruments efficiently using proper dental instrument processing techniques to maintain clinical hygiene standards.
Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and assisting the dental receptionist with patient management software.
Skills
Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry, chairside assisting, and oral surgery support.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to general dentistry and pediatric dentistry.
Experience operating dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other clinical tools with a focus on safety and infection control.
Familiarity with EMR systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for accurate medical documentation and records management.
Expertise in infection prevention management including sterilization procedures, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection control standards.
Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages while demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
Knowledge of medical coding practices related to dental procedures for accurate recordkeeping.
