Join Our Team as a Medical Assistant!
Location: Schenectady, On-site
Position Type: Full Time
Hometown Health Centers is looking for a caring, organized, and team-oriented Medical Assistant to join our patient care team. In this dynamic role, you'll support clinical operations, work directly with patients, and contribute to delivering compassionate, quality care to our community. Key Responsibilities:
Prepare exam rooms and maintain proper sterilization of instruments and equipment.
Greet and escort patients, document reasons for visit, obtain vital signs, and review previous care plans.
Enter accurate clinical data into the electronic medical record (EMR).
Assist with patient referrals, form completion, and educational support.
Administer treatments and perform diagnostic procedures within your scope.
Collaborate with the care team by preparing for visits and participating in daily huddles.
Collect and process lab specimens; perform CLIA-waived testing and quality control.
Support telehealth home visits for medically or dentally complex and/or homebound patients.
Train to cover roles in the Call Center/Registration during peak periods.
Address patient and family concerns and assist in quality improvement activities.

Education & Certification:
High School Diploma or GED.
Completion of an accredited medical assistant program and current certification, or completion of a higher-level nursing program.
Current BLS certification.
Experience & Skills:
Experience in an outpatient or medical office setting preferred.
Ability to work in a fast- paced multicultural environment.
Familiarity with medical terminology required.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to patient-centered care.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to move/lift up to 25pounds
Standing and/or walking for long periods per day
Work with blood or blood-borne pathogens and will require OSHA training
Additional Information:
Travel: Travel between all Health Center locations is required; occasional travel for training.
