Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Front Desk Receptionist / Patient Care Coordinator to join our healthcare team. This vital role combines exceptional patient service with efficient administrative support, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience for every patient. Duties
Greet patients warmly upon arrival, ensuring a positive first impression and smooth check-in process
Manage appointment scheduling using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility and benefits verification for Medicare, ICD-10, CPT coding, and other payers
Collect and process patient payments, including copays and outstanding balances, utilizing medical collection procedures
Maintain accurate and complete medical records by reviewing documentation for compliance with HIPAA regulations
Assist with medical billing and coding tasks, including ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, to ensure accurate claim submission
Handle multi-line phone systems professionally, providing excellent phone etiquette and patient service
Support clinical staff with intake procedures, appointment reminders, and care plan documentation
Manage medical office supplies inventory and ensure the cleanliness and organization of the front desk area
Utilize office management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for scheduling, billing, and record keeping
Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers while maintaining confidentiality of health information
Experience
Prior experience working in a medical office or clinic environment is highly preferred
Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, CPT coding, and medical billing practices
Experience with insurance verification processes including Medicare and private insurers
Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations
Excellent clerical skills including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and document review
Familiarity with dental terminology or dental clinic experience is advantageous but not required
Proven ability to handle multi-tasking in a busy setting while maintaining attention to detail
Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and health information management software
