Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Office Receptionist to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service while managing check-in and check-out procedures.
Schedule appointments using medical scheduling software, coordinating with providers to optimize clinic flow.
Verify patient insurance information, including health insurance knowledge related to Medicare, Medicaid, and other plans, ensuring accurate billing and documentation review.
Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms for efficient data entry and retrieval.
Handle phone communication with professionalism, answering inquiries promptly and directing calls appropriately with proper phone etiquette.
Assist with medical billing processes, including collection efforts and coding tasks such as CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Maintain organized medical records by filing documents accurately and managing electronic health records (EHR) management with attention to clinical confidentiality policies.
Support clinical staff by reviewing documentation for completeness and accuracy, including care plans and medical records updates.
Perform clerical duties such as typing reports, data entry (including 10 key typing), faxing, scanning documents, and office filing to ensure smooth administrative operations.
Uphold health information management standards by adhering to HIPAA guidelines and safeguarding patient privacy at all times.
Experience
Proven experience working in a medical office environment or healthcare setting with a strong background in front desk or medical receptionist roles.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks is highly preferred.
Knowledge of medical billing procedures, medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), and insurance processes including Medicare is essential.
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills—bilingual abilities are a plus—combined with strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications.
Prior clinic experience or dental clinic experience is advantageous but not mandatory; a background in healthcare administration is highly valued.
Understanding of clinical confidentiality policies and health information management practices is required for compliance purposes.
