Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and organized Medical Office Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and efficient front desk experience. Your expertise in medical administrative support, patient service, and office management will help streamline daily operations and enhance patient satisfaction. Responsibilities
Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing exceptional customer service and guiding them through check-in procedures
Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, scheduling appointments and answering inquiries promptly
Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and handle medical billing processes including collections using systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems
Maintain accurate medical records by filing, updating, and reviewing documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Assist with appointment scheduling, patient intake, and coordinating care plans while managing front desk operations efficiently
Review medical documentation for accuracy and completeness; ensure proper CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and billing procedures are followed
Support office management tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and maintaining health information management standards
Conduct office tasks related to medical records management, including documentation review and ensuring compliance with HIPAA privacy standards
Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth clinic operations and support medical administrative functions
Experience
Prior experience working in a medical or dental office environment is highly preferred, especially in clinic or hospital settings
Demonstrated proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft for documentation review and patient record management
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and insurance billing processes including Medicare procedures
Excellent computer skills with familiarity in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) and health information management software
Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
Proven ability to handle multi-line phone systems efficiently while maintaining professionalism in high-pressure environments
Experience with dental terminology or dental office management is advantageous for dental clinic roles
