Responsibilities
Greet patients warmly and provide excellent customer service at the front desk, ensuring a positive first impression.
Schedule appointments accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth.
Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and facilitate insurance verification processes.
Manage patient check-in and check-out procedures, including collecting co-pays and updating demographic information.
Maintain and organize medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards.
Assist with medical billing and collection processes, including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and documentation review.
Answer multi-line phone systems professionally, triage calls, and direct inquiries appropriately.
Support medical administrative tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10-key typing), and managing office supplies.
Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth patient intake and appointment flow.
Utilize office management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix for scheduling, billing, and record keeping.
Ensure accurate documentation of patient interactions and care plans within EMR/EHR systems.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a medical office setting; dental clinic experience is a plus.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, CPT coding, and medical billing procedures.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks or Dentrix.
Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and office management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
Exceptional phone etiquette with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems efficiently.
Ability to review medical documentation accurately while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in filing, documentation review, and data entry tasks.
Prior clinic or hospital experience is preferred; dental office experience is advantageous.
