Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service and guiding them through check-in and check-out procedures
Verify patient insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance verification processes using systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or Dentrix
Schedule appointments accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as eClinicalWorks or Eaglesoft, ensuring optimal clinic flow
Collect and review medical documentation, including intake forms, medical histories, and consent forms, ensuring completeness and accuracy
Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette; direct calls appropriately and handle patient inquiries efficiently
Maintain organized medical records and files in compliance with HIPAA regulations; ensure confidentiality at all times
Assist with billing processes by understanding medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), processing payments, and supporting medical collection efforts
Support clinic operations by performing clerical tasks such as filing, data entry, typing reports, and managing office supplies
Skills
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and Medicare guidelines
Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or Dentrix; experience with Eaglesoft is a plus
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and familiarity with office management software like Medisoft or similar platforms
Exceptional patient service skills with a friendly demeanor; ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and compassion
Effective communication skills; bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations
Prior clinic or dental office experience with familiarity in dental terminology and dental office management is preferred
Strong organizational skills; ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards for health information management; experience reviewing documentation for accuracy and completeness
