Job Description
The Medical Receptionist: New Patient Intake & Medical Records Coordinator manages new patient scheduling, insurance verification, and medical records coordination to ensure a smooth and organized patient experience. This role works closely with the Front Desk Lead, Surgery Scheduling, and clinical teams to maintain accurate schedules and complete patient documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Schedule new patient appointments and create patient accounts in multiple systems
Verify insurance benefits and referral requirements
Distribute new patients evenly among providers based on surgical caseload
Request, track, and upload required medical records and referrals prior to consultations
Follow up on missing records and notify clinical staff of status
Review upcoming schedules to confirm documentation is complete
Scan and upload records, correspondence, patient photos, and documents into the EMR
Process incoming faxes and route documents appropriately
Respond to medical records requests in compliance with HIPAA guidelines
Maintain medical records logs and patient indexes
Provide front desk coverage as needed
Qualifications
Experience in medical scheduling, insurance verification, and EMR systems
Knowledge of medical records protocols and HIPAA compliance
Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced medical office
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
