Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors in our healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of medical administrative procedures. In this role, you will manage patient scheduling, verify insurance information, maintain accurate medical records, and provide exceptional patient service to ensure smooth clinic operations. The Medical Receptionist plays a vital role in supporting clinical staff and enhancing the overall patient experience through professional and efficient front desk support.
Responsibilities
Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression while managing check-in and check-out processes.
Schedule appointments accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Verify insurance coverage
Maintain and update patient records within various EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems including eClinicalWorks.
Manage multi-line phone systems with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette while addressing patient inquiries efficiently.
Support administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, data entry, and maintaining organized medical records to ensure confidentiality and accuracy.
Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate patient intake processes and coordinate appointment scheduling to optimize clinic flow.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office administrative support role within a healthcare setting.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or Dentrix is highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
Understanding of HIPAA regulations related to health information management and patient privacy.
Excellent computer skills
Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations; bilingual abilities are a plus.
