Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing exceptional customer service while managing a variety of administrative tasks. Your energetic approach will help streamline clinic operations, ensure accurate documentation, and foster a welcoming environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong medical office experience, excellent communication skills, and a passion for supporting patient care through efficient administrative support.
Responsibilities
Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression and smooth check-in process
Verify patient insurance coverage through insurance verification processes and update patient records accordingly
Schedule appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth, maintaining accurate calendar management
Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, directing calls efficiently and taking detailed messages when necessary
Collect and review medical documentation, including intake forms, care plans, and billing information, ensuring accuracy and completeness
Assist with medical billing procedures by coding procedures using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/ICD-10 codes, and processing payments or collections as needed
Maintain organized medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and ensure confidentiality of sensitive health information
Support front desk operations by filing documents, managing office supplies, and performing clerical tasks such as data entry and typing with high accuracy
Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers by reviewing documentation and coordinating follow-up appointments or tests
Requirements
Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical administrative support role within clinics or healthcare settings
Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, or Athenahealth
Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical billing processes
Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), Eaglesoft or Dentrix (for dental clinics), and other office management software
Excellent patient service skills with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities
Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Bilingual skills are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations
Prior clinic or dental office experience is preferred; familiarity with insurance verification and health information management is a plus
