Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Scheduler/Receptionist with Dermatology Experience to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in and check-out, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. Your expertise in medical administrative support, EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems, and health information management will help deliver exceptional patient service while maintaining strict adherence to confidentiality policies. Duties
Schedule patient appointments efficiently using EMR/EHR systems such as EMA Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks, ensuring optimal clinic flow.
Greet patients warmly upon arrival, verify insurance information, and update medical records accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
Manage phone communication with professionalism, providing clear information about appointments, directions, and general inquiries.
Review and document patient information meticulously, including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes, ICD-9/10 diagnosis codes, and care plans for billing accuracy.
Assist with medical billing processes by submitting claims and following up on collections related to Medicare or other insurance providers.
Maintain organized medical records and ensure proper filing of documents in compliance with health information management standards.
Support clinical staff by coordinating appointment times, preparing documentation for procedures, and managing office supplies to ensure a seamless clinic experience.
Qualifications
Proven experience in medical office management or as a medical receptionist with clinic experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with electronic health records management is essential.
Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and typing skills (10 key typing).
Knowledge of health insurance procedures, Health Insurances HMO /PPO, Verifying Eligibility, authorizations and referrals, HIPAA compliance, CPT coding, ICD-10 coding standards
Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively via phone etiquette and in person; bilingual abilities are a plus.
Demonstrated clerical experience involving filing, documentation review, and medical records management.
Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
Prior dental clinic or healthcare facility experience is advantageous but not mandatory; a strong foundation in medical terminology is required.
