Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Myofunctional Therapist and Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for patient care, with expertise in both myofunctional therapy, breathwork, and dental hygiene practices. This role involves providing comprehensive oral health services, including assessment, treatment planning, and therapy to improve orofacial function, alongside routine dental hygiene procedures; committed to delivering exceptional patient experiences while maintaining high standards of safety, infection control, and clinical excellence. We are an established dental office , growing our airway centered treatments. The sucessful applicant will be proactive in developing and delivering treatment modalities to support airway development. The Doctor is advanced in diagnosing and treating compromised airways and sleep apnea and is looking for a supportive staff to grow with that part of the practice. You can start at 12 hours a week, hybrid in-office and remote, and be available to grow from there to more days.
Duties
Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical history review, vital signs measurement, and oral examinations to identify functional orofacial issues.
Deliver myofunctional therapy aimed at improving tongue posture, swallowing patterns, and airway function through tailored exercises and patient education. Both in-office and remotely.
Deliver breathwork training , in office and remotely.
Perform dental hygiene procedures such as cleaning teeth, scaling, polishing, and applying fluoride treatments in accordance with best practices.
Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records, treatment plans, and progress notes within Softdent
Adhere strictly to infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and safety.
Educate patients on oral health maintenance, proper hygiene techniques, and the importance of myofunctional therapy for overall health benefits.
Collaborate with the dental team to ensure comprehensive care delivery while supporting a positive and welcoming environment. Eager to backup the roles of other staff whenever needed, ie . dental assistant, frontdesk responsibilities.
Valid licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current state licensing requirements met.
Certification or specialized training in myofunctional therapy or orofacial myology preferred; relevant experience will be considered.
Knowledge of and experience with diaphramatic breathwork, ie Buteko
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy related to the oral cavity, and infection control standards.
Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse age groups.
Familiarity with EMR systems, medical imaging techniques, vital signs monitoring, and medical records management.
Pay: $55.00 - $65.00 per hour
