Ophthalmology Office Receptionist & Scheduler

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Ophthalmology Office Receptionist & Scheduler to join our dedicated healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while efficiently managing appointment scheduling, patient intake, and medical records. Responsibilities
Greet patients warmly upon arrival, verify insurance coverage, and update patient information in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks.

Schedule appointments accurately using medical scheduling software like Athenahealth or Dentrix, coordinating with ophthalmologists and support staff to optimize clinic flow.

Answer multi-line phone systems professionally, providing clear information and directing calls appropriately while maintaining excellent phone etiquette.

Verify insurance benefits, perform insurance verification, and assist with billing processes including medical collection procedures.

Manage patient records with meticulous attention to confidentiality and HIPAA compliance; review documentation for accuracy and completeness.

Assist with intake procedures, including collecting medical history, updating care plans, and explaining pre-appointment instructions to patients.

Maintain office organization through filing, data entry, and managing electronic medical records efficiently using various EMR systems.

Requirements
Proven experience in a medical office setting, preferably within ophthalmology or dental clinics.

Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and familiarity with Medicare guidelines.

Proficiency in EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks; experience with Eaglesoft or Dentrix is a plus.

Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; ability to perform 10-key typing accurately.

Exceptional customer service skills coupled with professional phone etiquette and clear communication abilities.

Ability to handle sensitive health information in compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality at all times.

Bilingual skills are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
