OPS Dental Hygienist
CLASSIFICATION MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma, licensed as a dental hygienist in accordance with Chapter 466, Florida Statutes, and Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Perform Treatments on patients consistent with the training of a licensed dental hygienist and as prescribed by faculty/residents, including but not limited to: periodontal charting, oral hygiene instructions, root planning and scaling procedures, and prophylaxis.
Additional duties will include cleaning of dental treatment rooms and facilitating sterilization of instruments, assisting in maintaining inventories of materials for the resident graduate clinic, providing dental assisting services for faculty during periodontal surgery as required, and other additional duties as needed for the benefit of the Department of Periodontics.
EXPECTED SALARY:
$36.00 per hour
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma, licensed as a dental hygienist in accordance with Chapter 466, Florida Statutes, and Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
PREFERRED:
Experience handling general office equipment (fax machine, computer, copier and calculator).
Information technology skills operating a computer, and experience with Windows, and Microsoft Office (Word, Access and Excel).
Strong organizational skills
Proven ability in critical thinking, problem-solving, and process evaluation/improvement
Ability to deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner
Ability to communicate effectively with multiple persons during high volume periods
Ability to coordinate work assignments effectively
Poise and confidence when interacting with faculty and students in the clinic setting, with the ability to professionally maintain established industry standards
