Duties
Perform complex oral and maxillofacial surgeries including dental extractions, dental implants, orthognathic procedures, and facial trauma repairs
Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical history review, clinical examination, and diagnostic imaging interpretation using medical imaging tools
Develop individualized treatment plans aligned with patient needs and current healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and state-specific guidelines
Manage preoperative preparations and administer anesthesia safely, utilizing anesthesiology best practices and aseptic techniques
Provide post-operative care, monitor healing progress, and educate patients on recovery protocols and oral health maintenance
Maintain accurate medical documentation and dental records using electronic health record systems like Epic, Eaglesoft, or Dentrix
Collaborate with general dentists, orthodontists, prosthodontists, pediatric dentists, and other specialists to ensure comprehensive patient care
Skills
Extensive knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to oral surgery
Proficiency in using dental practice management software such as Epic, Eaglesoft, or Dentrix for documentation and scheduling
Skilled in performing dental extractions, root canal therapy, dental fabrication, and other advanced procedures including dental implants and prosthodontics
Strong understanding of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety during all procedures
Ability to interpret medical imaging for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning
Excellent client communication skills to explain procedures clearly and provide compassionate patient care
Familiarity with healthcare diagnosis processes and the ability to assess complex cases involving pediatrics or general dentistry needs
