Job Summary
Oral Surgery Plus is seeking a skilled Surgical Assistant to join our team. The position is 4 days per week. The ideal candidate will be energetic, patient-care-oriented, and friendly, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a strong attention to detail. This position requires proficiency in various dental procedures, familiarity with dental terminology, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. The Dental Assistant will support the dentist during treatments, manage patient records, and assist with administrative tasks as needed.
While oral surgery experience is preferred, a dental assisting background is required.
Responsibilities
Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, including chairside assisting.
Prepare and maintain dental instruments, ensuring they are sterilized and organized according to infection control protocols.
Take and develop X-rays, utilizing knowledge of medical imaging techniques.
Record patient medical histories, vital signs, and other relevant information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Manage electronic medical records (EMR) using systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft.
Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
Assist with pediatric dentistry procedures, ensuring a comfortable environment for young patients.
Support front office duties as needed, including scheduling appointments and managing medical documentation.
Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment to promote safety and efficiency.
Qualifications
Previous experience as a Dental Assistant or in a dental clinic setting is preferred.
Proficiency in dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and aseptic techniques is essential.
Familiarity with EMR systems such as WinoMS, Epic or Dentrix is highly desirable.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and team members.
Commitment to infection control standards and maintaining patient confidentiality.
