Oral Surgery Dental Assistant (Timber Dental - Downtown)

Description
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Oral Surgery Dental Assistant to join our team in Portland, OR. This role is ideal for an experienced dental assistant who thrives in a surgical setting and is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care.

The Oral Surgery Assistant plays a critical role in supporting the doctor during surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort, and maintaining an efficient clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities
Assist the oral surgeon during surgical procedures including extractions, implants, bone grafting, and other oral surgery treatments
Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and treatment rooms in accordance with OSHA and infection control protocols
Monitor patients during procedures, including vital signs when applicable
Provide pre-operative and post-operative instructions to patients
Take and process dental radiographs, including panoramic and CBCT scans (if applicable)
Ensure all surgical rooms are properly set up and stocked for procedures
Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and charting
Support patient flow to ensure an efficient and organized schedule
Assist with IV sedation setup and monitoring (if certified and applicable)
Maintain a calm, reassuring environment for patients before, during, and after procedures
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Minimum 1–2 years of dental assisting experience (oral surgery experience preferred)
DAANCE certification and/or EFODA certification required
Radiology certification (required)
Current CPR/BLS certification (required)
Strong understanding of surgical procedures, instruments, and sterile techniques
Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced surgical environment
Excellent communication and patient care skills
Detail-oriented, organized, and dependable
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
