About the Role:

The Orthodontic Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting orthodontists in providing high-quality care to patients. This position involves preparing patients for treatment, assisting during procedures, and ensuring that the orthodontic office runs smoothly. The Orthodontic Assistant will also be responsible for educating patients about their treatment plans and maintaining accurate records. By fostering a positive and welcoming environment, the assistant helps to enhance the overall patient experience. Ultimately, the goal of this role is to contribute to successful orthodontic outcomes and patient satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Completion of an accredited dental assisting program.

Certification in CPR and basic life support.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience as an orthodontic assistant or in a dental office setting.

Knowledge of orthodontic procedures and terminology.

Certification as a dental assistant (CDA) or orthodontic assistant (OAP).

Responsibilities:

Prepare treatment rooms and ensure all necessary instruments and materials are ready for procedures.

Assist the orthodontist during various procedures, including taking impressions, fitting appliances, and adjusting braces.

Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and the importance of following their treatment plan.

Maintain patient records, including treatment progress and appointment schedules, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.

Manage inventory and order supplies as needed to ensure the office is well-stocked and organized.

The required skills for this position include strong communication abilities, which are essential for effectively interacting with patients and explaining treatment procedures. Attention to detail is crucial, as the Orthodontic Assistant must accurately maintain patient records and ensure that all instruments are properly sterilized.
