Certified Orthodontic Dental Assistant
Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented, and motivated Certified Orthodontic Dental Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist the orthodontist in delivering exceptional patient care, ensure efficient clinical operations, and provide a positive experience for patients throughout their orthodontic treatment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the orthodontist during examinations and orthodontic procedures.
Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for patient appointments.
Place and remove orthodontic appliances, archwires, elastics, and ligatures as permitted by state regulations and certification.
Take digital X-rays, intraoral photographs, impressions, and/or digital scans.
Provide patients with instructions on oral hygiene, braces, aligners, retainers, and appliance care.
Sterilize instruments and maintain infection control standards in accordance with OSHA and CDC guidelines.
Accurately document patient treatment, progress, and clinical notes in the electronic dental record.
Schedule patient appointments and coordinate follow-up care as needed.
Maintain inventory of clinical supplies and assist with ordering materials.
Deliver outstanding customer service while creating a welcoming and professional environment for patients and their families.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Current Dental Assistant certification and Orthodontic Assistant certification or state-required orthodontic permit, as applicable.
Current CPR/BLS certification.
Previous orthodontic assisting experience preferred.
Knowledge of orthodontic procedures, dental terminology, and infection control protocols.
Experience with digital imaging systems and electronic dental records is preferred.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
