Job Summary

Responsibilities
Prepare treatment rooms with the necessary dental instruments, materials, and equipment for each orthodontic procedure.
Assist orthodontists during appointments by handing instruments, managing suction devices, and ensuring patient comfort through chairside support.
Take and develop dental x-rays, including panoramic and cephalometric images, adhering to infection prevention protocols.
Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices tailored for pediatric dentistry and general dentistry needs.
Process dental instruments following sterilization procedures to maintain aseptic technique and prevent infection transmission.
Skills
Proficiency in dental/orthodontic terminology, and understanding of dental equipment including 3D scanners and medical imaging devices.
Experience with dental sterilization procedures, infection control practices, and healthcare infection prevention standards.
Ability to operate dental x-ray machines safely while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
Familiarity with EMR systems for accurate documentation of medical records and dental charts.
Strong communication skills to effectively educate patients of all ages about treatment plans and oral health maintenance.
A solid understanding of anatomy knowledge relevant to dentistry and orthodontics to assist with clinical procedures confidently.
Required
Must have active Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license
Must have at least 1 year experience as an Orthodontic Assistant
