Duties
Assist orthodontists during patient examinations, procedures, and adjustments with precision and efficiency
Prepare treatment areas by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly in accordance with dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management policies
Take and develop dental x-rays, including 3D scans, while following radiation safety protocols and maintaining clinical confidentiality policies
Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Educate patients on orthodontic care, oral hygiene practices, and post-treatment instructions to promote optimal outcomes
Support patient management through scheduling appointments, updating medical histories, and managing patient flow using patient management software
Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment by processing dental instruments and ensuring all dental equipment is sanitized according to infection control standards
Assist with general dentistry procedures when needed, including oral surgery or prosthodontics, demonstrating versatility in dental assisting skills
Experience
Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially within orthodontics or pediatric dentistry environments
Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for managing medical records and scheduling appointments
Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental assisting roles
Hands-on experience with dental x-ray techniques, including digital imaging and 3D scanner operation
Familiarity with infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection prevention standards
Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently during four-handed dentistry procedures involving endodontics or oral surgery
Strong understanding of dental instrument processing protocols and sterilization procedures to ensure patient safety
