Responsibilities
Assist orthodontist during patient procedures, including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance modifications and scan for clear aligners
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments, setting up necessary equipment such as 3D scanners and dental x-ray machines, and ensuring all materials are ready for use
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique while maintaining patient comfort and safety in accordance with infection prevention protocols
Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical histories
Maintain clinical cleanliness by following infection control procedures, sterilizing instruments, and adhering to aseptic techniques during all chairside activities
Support patient education by explaining procedures using appropriate dental terminology and providing post-treatment care instructions
Utilize patient management software such as IMS to schedule appointments, update records, and facilitate seamless communication within the team

Requirements
Proven experience in dental assisting or chairside support within a general dentistry or orthodontic setting is preferred; experience with pediatric dentistry is a plus
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, equipment operation (including 3D scanners and dental sterilization procedures), and infection control standards
Ability to accurately take dental X-rays while ensuring patient safety and comfort in line with HIPAA guidelines
Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages and backgrounds while maintaining professionalism and empathy
Knowledge of medical documentation practices, medical coding, and healthcare infection prevention policies is advantageous
Certification in dental assisting or related fields is preferred; ongoing training in dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques is encouraged
