Job Description
Are you ready to become a Smile Creator?
At Siouxland Orthodontics, we don't just straighten teeth—we transform smiles, build confidence, and walk alongside families through a journey that changes how people see themselves. Our Clinical Assistants are at the heart of that work. You'll be the warm, reassuring presence in the chair and the skilled hands that help move teeth into place.
This role is for someone who is genuinely drawn to dentistry and orthodontics—someone who loves people, loves learning, and wants to grow a real career in the dental field.
Bilingual English/Spanish is required. We serve a diverse community and want every patient and parent to feel understood, informed, and cared for.
What you'll do
Be a warm embrace for our patients
Greet and seat patients, helping kids, teens, and adults feel comfortable and at ease
Explain each treatment step and what to expect—before, during, and after the appointment
Educate patients and parents on oral hygiene, appliance care, elastics, and diet with braces/aligners
Celebrate milestones and progress with our patients (we love a good "braces off" day!)
Deliver hands-on orthodontic care (we'll train you)
Place and change archwires, ligatures, elastic ties, and power chain
Remove and replace wires and assist with bracket placement and bonding
Assist with banding/debanding and braces removal
Deliver, adjust, and manage orthodontic appliances (expanders, retainers, aligners, etc.)
Take intraoral and extraoral photos, digital scans, and X-rays (as certified/permitted)
Prepare, sterilize, and maintain operatories and instruments following infection control and OSHA standards
Assist the doctor chairside and keep the clinic flowing on time
Master our technology
Chart treatment and update patient records in our digital practice management system (HIPAA compliant)
Use Microsoft 365 and other integrated apps and tools to communicate and keep the team in sync
Work with digital scanners, imaging, and other high-tech systems that power modern orthodontics
Who you are
Bilingual English/Spanish (required)
Invested in dentistry: you have dental experience (assisting, dental office, or orthodontics), dental assisting schooling/certification, or have seriously explored a dental career (pre-dental, hygiene, or assisting coursework, shadowing, etc.)
Outgoing, warm, and naturally great with people of all ages
A fast learner with the ambition to exceed expectations—not just meet them
Curious about the science of dentistry and how teeth move, and excited to keep learning
Tech savvy and comfortable learning new software and systems quickly
Detail-oriented, dependable, and calm in a fast-paced clinic
A team player who takes pride in creating an amazing patient experience
Nice to have: orthodontic or chairside assisting experience, Iowa dental assisting registration/radiography qualification, or CPR/BLS certification. Not required—we will train and support the right person.
Why dental? Tell us.
We're looking for someone who is choosing this field on purpose. If you've worked in dental, studied it, or have a compelling reason you're pursuing it now, we want to hear your story. Applications that show a clear interest in dentistry or orthodontics will be prioritized.
Training and growth
Hands-on, structured training in orthodontic chairside skills
Support toward dental assisting and radiography certifications
Room to grow in clinical skills, responsibility, and leadership for high performers
Why Siouxland Orthodontics
Supportive, upbeat team culture
Great hours and benefits, including 401(k) and dental insurance
Modern, high-tech practice where you'll keep learning
Meaningful work—you'll see real transformations: crooked to straight, shy to confident
Location / Schedule
This is an in-office position in Sioux City. We're not hiring for remote work—our patients need you chairside, and you'll be a key part of the Siouxland Orthodontics brand and experience.
Ready to apply?
Apply on Indeed and include a short note answering: Why dental, and why orthodontics? Tell us about any dental experience, schooling, or what has drawn you to this career.
