Job Description

Job Summary
The Orthodontic Registered Dental Assistant plays a key role in supporting the orthodontist and ensuring a smooth, efficient, and positive patient experience. This position is responsible for preparing and maintaining treatment rooms, assisting with orthodontic procedures, sterilizing instruments, taking high‑quality radiographs, and managing clinical supplies. The ORDA provides clear communication to patients and parents, helps keep the daily schedule running on time, and contributes to a cohesive team environment.

This role requires strong organizational skills, professionalism, and the ability to follow safety, HIPAA, OSHA, and infection‑control protocols. The ideal candidate is dependable, motivated, and able to handle patient interactions with confidence, care, and a positive attitude.

Duties
Assist the orthodontist during procedures by preparing and managing instruments, supplies, and treatment areas.

Clean, sterilize, and maintain instruments, equipment, and treatment rooms.

Follow all HIPAA, OSHA, PPE, infection control, and safety protocols.

Take, expose, and evaluate high‑quality dental radiographs.

Restock rooms, manage inventory, and maintain supply levels—including transporting supplies between office and mobile van.

Provide oral hygiene instructions and complete patient charting as directed.

Welcome patients, keep appointments running on time, and support a cohesive team environment.

Communicate effectively with patients, parents, orthodontists, and staff.

Escort patients to the front desk and assist with scheduling when needed.

Maintain professional appearance, dependable attendance, and complete required annual education/licensing.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements
High school diploma or GED.

Current, non‑expired RDA license
Current CPR certification.

1–2 years of RDA experience. (Willing to train new assistants)
Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to follow policies, accept constructive feedback, and maintain a positive, professional attitude.
