Job Description

Job Overview
Join our team as an Orthodontic Dental Assistant and play a vital role in delivering exceptional orthodontic care! In this energetic and rewarding position, you will support orthodontists by preparing treatment areas, assisting during procedures, and ensuring patients receive top-quality care in a friendly, professional environment.

Our office is open three days per week - but the days vary. For example, one week it might be M-W and the next week W - F. The schedule is posted at least six months in advance. We consider the position 'full time' with regards to benefits offered, but it is only ~24 hrs/week.

Duties
Prepare treatment chairs with the necessary orthodontic instruments, materials, and equipment.

Assist orthodontist during various treatments, including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance installations.

Take dental x-rays and 3D scans while adhering to infection prevention management.

Manage patient records accurately using electronic medical records (EMR) systems, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.

Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices.

Perform dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, and infection control protocols to uphold the highest standards of healthcare infection prevention and control expertise.

Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and assisting the dental receptionist with patient flow.

Skills
Proficiency in dental assisting with experience in chairside assisting for orthodontic procedures preferred.

Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, dental equipment, and imaging techniques relevant to orthodontics.

Ability to operate dental x-ray machines safely while maintaining strict adherence to radiation safety protocols.

Expertise in dental sterilization procedures & infection prevention management to ensure a safe clinical environment.

Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients of all ages and collaborate with team members seamlessly.

Knowledge of dental instruments used in orthodontics such as brackets, wires, elastics, and 3D scanners.

Pay: $27.00 - $31.00 per hour
