Job Description
Overview
Join our family oriented, one office, orthodontic practice as a 3 day per week Orthodontic Assistant and play a vital role in creating beautiful, confident smiles! In this energetic and rewarding position you will assist with patient care, ensure smooth clinical operations, and provide exceptional support to our patients throughout their orthodontic journey. Your expertise in orthodontic assisting combined with a passion for patient care will help us deliver outstanding results in a friendly, professional environment.
Duties
Prepare treatment rooms with dental instruments, supplies, and sterilized equipment to ensure a clean and efficient workspace for each patient.
Assist orthodontist during procedures such as bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings using four-handed dentistry techniques.
Take and develop dental X-rays, including panoramic, cephlometric, and 3D scans, ensuring proper technique and patient comfort while adhering to infection prevention protocols.
Manage patient records using electronic medical records through Cloud 9 ortho, maintaining accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices specific to orthodontic appliances, including proper brushing, flossing, and appliance care
Maintain clinical cleanliness by processing dental instruments according to sterilization procedures and infection control standards.
Take and pour models for some appliances.
Qualifications
Proven experience as an Orthodontic Assistant.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, dental equipment, and clinical procedures including dental x-ray techniques.
Familiarity or exposure to Cloud 9 orthodontic is desirable.
Understanding of HIPAA regulations, clinical confidentiality policies, and healthcare infection prevention standards.
Ability to perform dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, and aseptic techniques efficiently.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients about treatment plans and oral health practices.
