Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Orthodontic Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. In this vital role, you will support orthodontists in delivering exceptional patient care by providing efficient chairside assistance, managing patient records, and ensuring smooth clinical operations. Duties
Assist orthodontists during various procedures, including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings, using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency.
Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and maintained according to infection control protocols.
Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans and medical imaging, while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accurate documentation of treatment plans and progress.
Educate patients on orthodontic care, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices tailored for pediatric dentistry and general dentistry patients.
Monitor vital signs and assist with medical documentation when necessary, especially for pediatric or medically complex patients.
Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist and maintaining organized medical records.
Skills
Proficiency in dental assisting techniques with experience in chairside assisting across various specialties including orthodontics, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatrics.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, aseptic technique, and medical terminology relevant to dental practice.
Familiarity with EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation efficiently.
Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners accurately while following safety protocols.
Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively and collaborate seamlessly with the dental team.
Experience working in a fast-paced dental clinic environment with a focus on pediatric dentistry or general dentistry is preferred.
